Alumni Placements 1987-2009

Although the Duke graduate program in music is relatively young--the first Ph.D. in Musicology was awarded in 1987 and the first Ph.D. in Composition in 1997--its graduates have been remarkably successful in securing academic positions. Of the 59 alumni who received their degree during 1987-2006 with completed doctorates, 37 currently hold academic appointments.
