Auditions
Auditions for the Chorale take place Aug. 25-29 in Room 036 Westbrook (see directions below). Any interested undergraduate and graduate students are encouraged to audition. Call (919) 684-3898 to schedule a time or to ask any questions about joining. Please check the full Chorale schedule prior to auditioning, and be prepared to list any conflicts you have with the posted schedule.

Audition site
Auditions are held in 036 Westbrook Building, which is the new addition to the Divinity School. To get there, start by facing the main entrance to Duke Chapel on the West campus quad. Turn right and go into the building on the right (Grey Building). Turn left and go all the way to the end of the hall. Turn right and go down the staircase one level. At the bottom of the stairs turn around and go under the staircase. Turn right again at the water fountain. The Chapel Music offices are on the left. Signs will be posted along the route. If you get lost or delayed, call 684-3898.

The audition
You should bring to your audition something that you know well, such as a solo song, choral part, hymn, or folksong. First, Dr. Wynkoop will warm you up and check your range and general voice quality. Then you can sing up to three minutes of the piece you have brought. (We'll provide an accompanist, if you need one.) Finally, you will be asked to sightread some music. You can have up to four attempts at the sightreading, with coaching and help from Dr. Wynkoop.

Audition results
Dr. Wynkoop is looking for singers who sing in tune, who have voices that will blend with others, and who can read music or learn it fairly quickly. Audition results are posted at noon on the second Monday of classes, at the audition site and at 02 Biddle Music Building.
