Undergraduate Courses in Applied Music

Ciompi Quartet"I especially enjoyed studying under the members of the Ciompi Quartet in the chamber music program. This was very rewarding in that it challenged me and greatly expanded my repertoire."

Laura Burian, Comparative Area Studies

Individual instrumental and vocal instruction can be pursued at different levels. Most music majors take one-hour weekly lessons (half course), but half-hour lessons (quarter course) are also offered, and qualified juniors and seniors may pursue Independent Study in Performance, a full course culminating in a recital. The applied lesson fee is waived for all majors in one area and for minors fulfilling their applied music requirement. Partial credit is also offered for participation in the performing organizations.
